Whispered Prompt Podcast 200806 Ewan Spence

Ewan Spence

Ewan was one of the pioneers of podcasting and was the co-founder of The Podcast Network, the first commercial podcasting network in February. By the time that August of that year had blown around he had decided he was going to take on the mamoth task of being the Fringe's first podcaster, a feat I tried to emulate in 2006, and managed to gain a fair amount of notoriety around the place for doing so.

As an Edinburgh, well Lieth, local some would say that Ewan was one of those people who was in the right place at the right time, and that is indeed true to an extent, but he also had the determination to not let the fact that there were 3000 shows needing covered, mentioned and reviewed put him off jumping into the Fringe Media pool.

I conducted this interview with Ewan in the beer garden of the Pleasance. It was the interview that I was by far the most nervious about, the longest of the lot, and probably the one that I learnt the most from. No one else bothered to give me pointers on my interview technique after the interview and no one else bothered to ask me for a copy of the interview.

So here it is, my interview with one of the pioneers of podcasting. The man who not only inspired me to copy him and podcast from the Fringe, but also the guy who set up the first commercial podcast network, something you might have noticed I am copy again at the moment!
