Blog #3 Bring on the chairs....

The second week of this years’ 3rd Degree, is “chairs in”. It will be a week of relaxing and enjoying quality live music. Opening the second weeks’ festivities will be Metrophonia on the 27th April with: A night of city-inspired art music, featuring acoustic jazz and Parisian cabaret. In the artists words it will be a night that’s “like sipping a martini while coolly surveying the urban nightscape from a luxury penthouse apartment.” This night will present the sounds of three acts: Paul Coupe, Vibrochromatica and Cabaret Parisián.

The 28th April brings Gin, Yang and Jesus, with Martine and the Olives, Harald Sunde and CHARCO. This night really is a worldwide affair with artists from Norway, Canada, Argentina and Spain. This night promises to surprise audiences with a new musical mix from the perimeter of the Atlantic Ocean.

Wednesday 29th April brings Peneclectic. Peneclectic explores the different styles of three solo songwriters. With elements of r’n’b, soul and acoustic pop we see the instrumentation, harmony and lyrics which all started with just the scratchings of a pen.

This week I’ve been working at Roadrunner Records so this week’s blog is a quickie. As far as progress goes the sound production team is working on producing an amazing sounding festival and the first year managers are in the process of arranging some awesome build up gigs with bands from all over the Northwest. I am also pleased to be able to say that tickets will be available from www.datz.com and our website, which will be going live in a matter of days, www.3rddegreefestival.com.

For this week’s random mention I’m going for local Liverpool band Hollow Point (www.myspace.com/hpoint). These guys are back giging again and will be playing Liverpool Academy on 26th March. Being that these guys are from Liverpool I think it’s important we support our local bands. And as Liverpool often misses out from the touring circuit of bigger metal acts, why not get your metal fix locally?! Not far to stumble home........you know it makes sense...
